Coupon Policies

Policies can’t live with them. Coupons can’t live without them! Ha! Seriously though if all cashiers knew their policies and stopped to think  that most of us are just trying to stretch our hard earned bucks rather than get something for nothing (well not always ha!) life would be so much easier on us coupon’ers! Seriously though is it our fault that there is a killer sale when a high value coupon is in print!?

Make sure to print out your coupon policies and keep them in your binders. Study them KNOW them! Inform your cashier without arguing. If she/he still can not see eye to eye with you ask to speak with a manager if you know your right and following all the rules (policy) call corporate before checking out! Stand your ground in a polite way. Remember it is THEIR policy not ours! After all if that was the case we’d get EVERYTHING for free! Ha!

I emailed K-Mart last night and received a reply back this morning. Here is what it states! You should print this out and take a copy with you at all times!

  • Kmart's Print-at-Home Internet Coupon Acceptance Policy
    >Effective March 1, 2009 , Kmart will accept industry-standard, secure print-at-home coupons. This will provide additional benefits and incentives to our customers to help them save their money at Kmart.

    >Due to the continuing shift in utilizing online facilities, allowing the redemption of print at home coupons is becoming a larger more important aspect to the budget wise customer. But there is a significant risk in fraudulent alerted coupons. It is critical that the following guidelines be understood and followed to identify coupons that will not be accepted by the Kmart register operators.

  • Kmart can only accept print-at-home coupons if they scan properly at checkout.

    Legitimate printable coupons are delivered using special software designed to print a properly rendered barcode on the coupon and limit the number of coupons printed. If the coupon dos not scan properly it cannot be accepted

  • Kmart will not accept coupons for more than about 75% of a product's value.

Dear Sherry,
Thank you for your e-mail regarding CVS/pharmacy coupon policy. Unfortunately, we can not distribute a copy of the coupon policy. However, here is a break down the most frequently asked coupon questions.


Our registers are set to allow one CVS coupon and one manufacturer coupon per item.  However, the staff should be allowing customers to use Extra Bucks in combination with other CVS coupons since these are coupons you have “earned.” 


In addition, they should be allowing the use of one “offer at the register” coupon which would be an open offer of $3 off of $15 or a certain dollar amount off of a specific item.  Since our registers are programmed to only accept two coupons (one CVS, one manufacturer) per item if the number of coupons exceed the items purchased a member of management will need to assist the cashier in processing the coupons.


CVS/pharmacy will accept coupons printed from the Internet.  They must have a legible barcode that scans at the register.  If the coupon does not scan at the register, the cashier should politely inform you that we are unable to accept your coupon.  We do not allow manual overrides at the register for coupons printed from the Internet.  CVS/pharmacy will not accept offers printed from unauthorized internet postings or reproductions, copies, or facsimiles.


When an item is on sale for buy one, get one free and the customer has a buy one get one free coupon for that same product, the coupon will be accepted and both items will essentially become free (plus any applicable sales tax). 


Also, two manufacturer coupons can be used on a buy one get one free purchase as long as two items are scanned at the register.  The system logic sees two items scanned and will allow two coupons.

I totally agree!

I wrote WalMarts Corporate office about the new super walmart that just opened in my neighborhood in June. I've gone there 3 times and all 3 times had problems with coupons! I had the coupon policy with me too and gave it to them, etc. The ended up taking the coupons because I stood my ground.

Today I went to that Walmart (was near it and needed a few things) I cashed out, presented the cashier with my printable Soy Milk coupon and she scanned it with NO problems! I had the coupon policy out and in my hand! LOL

So standing your ground does work!
